What It Means…
Proactive means that, we are responsible for our actions. Our behavior is a function of our own conscious choice, based on principles, rather than a product of our conditions, based on feelings. We have the initiative and the responsibility to make things happen.

Responsibility, choice, accountability, initiative, and resourceful.
Common Verbiage
This is just the way things are and there’s not much I can do to change it.
Highly Effective Verbiage
I am free to choose and I am ultimately responsible for my happiness.
Reactive Language
“I can’t.”
“It’s not my fault.”
“I have to.”
“We have no other choice.”
“They won’t let me.”
“There’s nothing we can do.”
Proactive Language
“I can.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I choose to.”
“Let’s look at all of our options.”
“I will get this done.”
“There must be something we can do.”
